Welcome to The National Register of Home Breeders

The Home Breeders Association (HBA) is a not for profit community of responsible breeders of dogs, cats and other pets who have signed up to a Code of Best Practice designed by the Animal Care College which ensures high standards of health and welfare.  The database allows access to HBA breeders by those seeking a pet whether it be a dog or cat of pedigree such as Beagles or Siamese, or deliberate crossbreeds such as Labradoodles, Cookerpoos, mongrels or moggies or the wide range of small adversaries from rabbits to gerbils.

Home breeders are breeders are those who breed on a small scale and keep their breeding stock as free-roaming, within high standard facilities in the home, or a very few quality residential kennels.

If you are looking for a pet do checkout our Code of Practice a and do not hesitate to contact the administrators if you feel the premises you visit do not fulfil the criteria.

The Animal Licensing Regulations introduced via the Animal Welfare Act of 2006 in 2018 has led to misunderstanding, confusion and considerable distress among small-scale and hobby breeders who have enthusiasm and joy in their pets and always placed the welfare of their stock ahead of profit.  One of the objectives of the Home Breeders Association is to reduce the advocates bureaucracy without sacrificing the health and welfare of their breeding stock or the pets they have available
